Jon Garland is healthy again and the Rockies hope he is effective. The last time the right-hander pitched in a major-league game was against Rockies as a member of the Dodgers on June 1, 2011. Soon there- after he had shoulder surgery and missed the rest of the season, plus the entire 2012 season. Garland, who signed with the Rockies near the end of spring training, is 2-4 with a 3.68 ERA in seven starts against the Padres. With his start Saturday, the veteran sinkerballer will have pitched for four teams in the National League West. The only team Garland has not pitched for is the Giants.
