Ask top-selling Ken-Caryl Valley agent Eva Stadelmaier (she sold $24-million-worth last year) about where she’s seeing the most buyers arriving from, and she’ll tell you downtown Denver and its surrounding neighborhoods. Downtown is pretty much the polar opposite of scenic Ken-Caryl Valley – tucked behind south Jefferson County, totally surrounded by nature: the juniper-crested Dakota Hogback on one side, piney foothills of the national forest on the other.

“There’s nothing like it,” says Stadelmaier, with RE/MAX Professionals. “You just don’t get this downtown. This is huge mountain biking country; plus we have amenities, and we’re (still) close to 470, with King Soopers, Safeway and Starbucks.” Also luring buyers from both in and out-of-state are the schools – 10-for-10-star Bradford Primary and 10-for-10 Bradford Intermediate, both in the Valley. She has a bunch of listings this spring, including a new one close to the middle school at $419,000 – a price range that’s red hot now, drawing multiple offers. But the one she wants to show you today, 1-3 p.m. is pricier, with a better view, and backs to some of that famous Ken-Caryl open space.

No. 28 Black Bear Lane is in the Valley’s North Ranch neighborhood, north of the famous Manor House that was the original estate for the 2,000-acre valley – where residents grab cocktails and hors d’oeuvres Mondays-through-Wednesdays. The home is 4-bedroom, over 6,000 square feet finished counting finished walkout; not counting a huge, new deck, or the 3-car side-load garage.
You’ll see a recently remodeled kitchen with 6-burner Décor range with pot-filler; big island and granite tops; a wet bar with wine cooler that sets off kitchen/nook from family room; and a new master bath with radiant heated floors. The price is $999,000. “This is a phenomenal deal,” Stadelmaier says, adding that it’s well suited for a pool – something she’s now adding to her own Ken-Caryl Valley place. To visit, take C-470 to Ken Caryl Avenue exit, head west through the hogback, bearing right to stay on Ken Caryl, and continue 1.3 mi. (past the Manor House) to Black Bear and turn left.
