
Spring local market
The fourth season of the Denver Handmade Homemade Market continues Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Denver Art Society, 734 Santa Fe Drive. Shoppers will find homemade food, soaps, crafts, jewelry, ceramics and accessories from more than 30 local vendors including Anchors & Arrows, Desserts 9 1 1, Wolff Designs and From the Hearth. Admission is a suggested $2 donation or bring a “thoughtful re-gift” for the Give and Take table.
History by the book
The Palmer Lake Historical Society presents a free program featuring Joyce B. Lohse, award-winning author of “Baby Doe Tabor: Matchless Silver Queen,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Palmer Lake Town Hall, 28 Valley Crescent in Palmer Lake. Lohse will share details on her book and how she wanted to tell the familiar story of Elizabeth Tabor, Colorado’s female mining legend, in a different light. Refreshments included. .
Grand Junction function
Learn the “fascinating stories, colorful characters and beautiful buildings” of Grand Junction in a 90-minute Historic Downtown Grand Junction Walking Tour at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Shred it to pieces
Wrapping up your 2012 taxes and realize you have a pile of outdated documents, records, bills and forms you don’t need any more? Take them to Community Shredding Day on April 20 at St. Michael & All Angels Church, 1400 S. University Blvd. The cost is $20 for a pickup-sized load and $10 for a carload. The church has hired ProShred, a professional shredding service, for this benefit. Times are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You’ll find them in the parking lot. 303-906-5446
