As of 10 p.m., thousands of homes were still without power in Denver, according to the Xcel website.
At 9 p.m., Xcel spokesman Mark Stutz said a new pole might have to be installed in the area of West Evans Avenue and Hooker Way after a car hit one earlier in the day.
Nearly 3,000 homes in Denver were without power starting at 5:45 p.m.
Denver police confirmed there was a non-injury accident, but it was unclear what factors led to the accident.
If a new pole had to be installed, Stutz said it would take some time to drill a new hole because the ground was frozen.
