We still have fond memories of here in Colorado — the weird nights at , or Ի . Gauntlet Hair pushed Denver’s indie-rock scene to the national spotlight after a few well-received EPs and a debut album on Dead Oceans. After sticking around for awhile, the band moved to Chicago last year, and we’ve been waiting to hear more from the fuzz-rock duo that consistently makes our list of year-end favorites.

Thursday, Gauntlet Hair announced a follow-up to its 2011 self-titled debut. The album, out July 16 on Dead Oceans, is called “Stills” and is produced by Jacob Portrait of Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

Along with this announcement, Gauntlet Hair has shared a new song called “Human Nature.” The band has returned sharper and a bit darker, with brooding vocals as opposed to the old reverb-heavy shriek.
