BRIGHTON, Colo.—A driver who investigators say was fumbling with his cellphone when he killed two pedestrians and injured a third in Adams County has been sentenced to two years’ probation.
Michael J. Grennan, of Loveland, also was sentenced Thursday to 300 hours of community service and was fined $500. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of careless driving resulting in death, one count of careless driving resulting in injury, and to having no insurance.
Prosecutors say Grennan was responding to some sort of alert on his phone last year when his vehicle drifted onto the shoulder of a rural road and hit Seth Lewis, Stephen Dabney and Jarren Lewis, who survived.
KMGH-TV in Denver reports () that at Grennan’s sentencing hearing, Jarren Lewis said he wishes the best for Grennan.
