Mark Ficarra has resigned as regional vice president of advertising for The Denver Post and will return to his consulting business, the newspaper said in a statement Wednesday.

Ficarra will continue to work on projects for The Post through August and then on an extended basis for Denver Post owner ap and Digital First Media, a partnership which oversees operations of both ap and Journal Register Co.

A search for Ficarra’s replacement will begin immediately, the statement said.

Until the role is filled, Christine Moser, vice president of advertising, will be responsible for the overall sales department and Kirk MacDonald, executive vice president of sales for Digital First Media, will manage The Post digital sales team.
