did their best at “Trying To Be Cool-Drakkar Noir” Tuesday night at the Ed Sullivan Theatre on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The joke’s on Paul Shaffer and David Letterman because the Frenchmen don’t have to try that hard. The guys are rallying behind their latest commercial success, “Bankrupt!”

Phoenix also stopped by the perennial NPR powerhouse KCRW out of Santa Monica last week to perform and chat with “Morning Becomes Eclectic” host, Jason Bentley. Check out the quintet perform at an ungodly hour before lunch time and look less than amused below.

The good news is that we have two chances to catch Phoenix on the “Bankrupt!” tour this summer in Colorado. reported that the band’s shiny synth pop is coming to Red Rocks on Aug. 7, and they will also be playing the Triple A Summit in Boulder at the super quaint Fox Theatre. Me thinks the latter will probably be quite the draw.
