CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo.—Black Hills Energy says ice building up on transmission lines and insulators caused a citywide power outage in Cripple Creek.

The Gazette reports () the city was without power around 8 a.m. Thursday, but service was restored to most customers by 10:10 a.m.

The utility says faulty insulators in a transformer near the El Paso Mine caused ice to build up on the power lines, leading to the outage.
