Denver’s annual two-day Cinco de Mayo celebration begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with a parade through downtown Denver.
The festival in Civic Center features bands, contests, food and booths from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican army over French forces on May 5, 1862, in the town of Puebla.
Road closures continue until 6 a.m. Monday.
• Bannock Street from West Colfax Avenue to West 13th Avenue, both directions.
• West 14th Avenue from Cherokee Street to Lincoln Street.
• Colfax from Cherokee Street to Lincoln Street, both directions; 14th Street from Court Place to Colfax; 15th Street from Colfax to Cleveland Place; Cheyenne Place from Broadway to Colfax.
• Broadway from the 16th Street Mall to 13th Avenue.
