Former Colorado quarterback Nick Hirschman is transferring to Akron, reported Thursday.
The junior will be eligible this season as he is earning his degree from Colorado this month. Hirschman announced he would transfer after he didn’t earn the starting job following spring practice. First-year Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre said Hirschman was even with fellow junior Connor Wood.
Akron finished 1-11, the same as Colorado, and 0-8 in the Mid-American Conference. The Zips graduate quarterback Dalton Williams, who threw for 3,387 yards and 25 touchdowns last season. His backup, Kyle Pohl, was a freshman.
