DENVER—A Colorado Department of Transportation smartphone application that gives motorists real-time information about road and traffic conditions has earned national recognition.
The Denver Post reports ( ) CDOT Mobile was honored during a ceremony in Washington, D.C., last week as a “White House Champion of Change for Transportation Innovation.”
CDOT officials say the application has more than 125,000 active users and is designed to make highway conditions, major projects and construction and traffic information more accessible and interactive.
Launched in September, CDOT Mobile was one of 12 transportation ideas recognized at the ceremony from more than 180 nominations.
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says “the Champions represent the very best in American leadership, innovations and progress.”
