The stunning photography National Geographic is known for takes center stage in a three-hour special, “The Wild West,” on Sunday at 7 p.m. locally on NatGeoWild. Elephant seals, black and brown bears, wild horses, turkey vultures and more are chronicled in hours devoted to three different landscapes.

The first hour, “High Noon,” is devoted to the deserts. Next, “True Grit” explores the Rocky Mountains. And “Gold Rush” looks at the coast.
