ASPEN, Colo.—The U.S. Forest Service is being urged to charge a fee for cyclists riding to Maroon Lake.
The recommendation came Wednesday from a volunteer committee that advises the regional forester on national forest issues. Janelle Kukuk told foresters if cyclists use the same facilities as motorists at Maroon Lake, they also should pay a fee.
According to the Aspen Times ( ), White River National Forest agent Rich Doak noted that when a $10 fee was put in place for vehicles driving to the Maroon Bells, Aspen residents fought a fee for cyclists.
