This is what they call a make-good contract.

According to the NFL Players Association, the New England Patriots not only signed former Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow to a minimum ($630,000) salary with a split against injury and no incentives in 2013 but the minimum $730,000 with a split, and no incentives for 2014.

Tebow does get a $25,000 workout bonus in 2014.

The splits mean if Tebow is place on injured reserve, his salary would be reduced to $358,000 this year and $398,000 in 2014.

reported play-time incentives that increase Tebow’s 2014 salary by $500,000 if he gets 60 percent of the snaps in 2013, or upped $1 million if he gets 70 percent of the snaps; or upped by $1.5 million if he gets 80 percent of the snaps; or upped by $2 million if he gets 80 percent of the snaps and reaches the playoffs or wins 10 games.

Obviously that’s not likely to be earned by incentives.
