After and announcing a huge North American and European tour, the new album finally has a release date. The psych-pop duo announced on their website today that the self-titled album is due out on Sept. 17.
also introduces something called “the Optimizer,” which “provides listeners of the album with a simultaneously aural & optical listening experience featuring video & CGI.” This will be part of the enhanced album experience, according to the website.
“Alien Days,” the record day single released in April will be the opening track to the new MGMT album.
MGMT plays the Fillmore Auditorium on Sept. 6, shortly before the album is released.
