PUEBLO, Colo.—Police say a DNA sample has cleared a man who was chased down by vigilantes who thought he was guilty of sexually assaulting a girl in Pueblo.

The group struggled with the man on May 19. He agreed to give police a DNA sample after officers arrived on the scene but wasn’t arrested.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports ( ) police said Wednesday that test results on the man’s sample didn’t match a sample taken from the alleged victim.

The investigation is continuing.
