A little laughter might be the best change of pace after many hours of moshing, thrashing, dancing and whatever other -ing verbs you’ll be taking part in during the later this month. If this seems like a pleasant way to cool down, then spend 11 p.m-1 a.m. at the Hornet during the Saturday of UMS for a showcase featuring talent.

In support of Denver’s growing comedy scene, the showcase includes comedians who will be part of the city’s first all stand-up festival in August. High Plains artists , , , , , , , and will all perform. The night will be hosted by High Plains curator and Denver comedian Adam Cayton-Holland.

UMS 2013 takes place from July 18-21, and The four day event includes headliners such as , , , and more.

As for the High Plains Comedy Festival, it takes place from Aug. 23-24 at the Hi-Dive, 3 Kings Tavern and Gothic Theatre. Along with the aforementioned comedians, performers include, , , , and more. Tickets for High Plains are on sale now at
