DENVER—A plan to use a giant crawler to install a new bridge over Interstate-70 in Denver is drawing so much attention that the state Department of Transportation is setting up grandstands.

Around noon Saturday, a 2,400-ton bridge assembled nearby will be rolled into place to span the interstate highway.

The Denver Post says () state officials are hoping there is no drama as the finished bridge rolls down the highway, but they’re crossing their fingers. If all goes well, state officials say watching a turtle race would probably be more exciting.

The subcontractor Mammoet specializes in hoisting and transporting heavy objects over water and roads using self-propelled vehicles.
