Johnston was advised Monday that he faces charges of possession of Ecstasy with intent to distribute; maintaining a drug-involved premises; possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; and using a telephone to facilitate a drug trafficking felony.

Prosecutors say Johnston was arrested after allegedly buying Ecstasy from an FBI informant Friday. The affidavit says a search of Johnston’s home turned up suspected cocaine and steroids.

Littleton police Cmdr. Trent Cooper says Johnston is on unpaid administrative leave. Johnston is a motorcycle officer who worked on traffic control and accident investigations.

His lawyer’s name wasn’t immediately available in online court records.
