MONTROSE, Colo.—Montrose County commissioners are wrangling over a Nucla airfield contract.
A debate has arisen over whether there was a conflict of interest in awarding a construction contract to Montrose County Airport Advisory Board member John Reams. County officials say the contract went through a proper bidding process.
According to the Montrose Daily Press ( ), commissioners ultimately approved the $462,000 contract to Reams Construction for the Nucla Hopkins Field terminal and site improvements project. The money comes from a Colorado Department of Transportation Aeronautics Board grant, which requires a $44,000 match from the county.
