A fatal two-vehicle head-on crash closed U.S. 285 near Pine Junction for more than four hours Thursday .
At least one person is dead, others are reported as having serious injuries, according to Colorado State Patrol.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said that the highway had reopened by 8:30 p.m.
