Several agencies are responding to a report of a fire in the mountains of Larimer County.
The fire, which started as a campfire and got out of control, was reported about 7:50 a.m. off of U.S. Highway 14 near Chambers Lake, said John Schulz, a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Poudre Canyon Fire Department, the U.S. Forest Service and sheriff’s Office emergency services are responding to the scene northwest of Estes Park.
There are no reports of injuries or structures threatened.
“It appears it may have been a campfire that got out of control and campers are trying to put it out with water buckets and shovels,” Schulz said.
Schulz described the fire as “relatively small.”
A forest service helicopter is making water drops on the ¼ acre fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
