BOULDER — Planners at the University of Colorado on Thursday gave an early OK to a new academic hub in the heart of the campus — a roughly $40 million building that would be built on top of the Euclid Autopark garage.

The Boulder Campus Planning Commission approved the program plan, though it still requires approval from the Board of Regents.

The three-story building would serve as a place to bring student-oriented academic services together under one roof, according to the plan, and it would include academic advising offices, the pre-collegiate outreach program as well as the Center for Outreach and Engagement.

Campus tours also would depart from the building.
