A California man who, along with his wife, was arrested in Qatar after the death of their daughter has ties to a Broomfield-based company.
Matthew and Grace Huang, on a charge of murder, are being accused of starving to death their 8-year-old daughter, Gloria.
The family has maintained that their adopted daughter had pre-existing health conditions. Gloria was extremely malnourished during her early childhood and would refuse food for several days, followed by binge eating, according to a report prepared in the U.S. by Janice Ophoven, a pediatric forensic pathologist.
An engineer for MWH Global, Matthew Huang and his family moved to Qatar so he could work on two projects related to the 2022 World Cup, .
Meg VanderLaan, a spokeswoman for MWH Global, confirmed last week that Huang works for the Broomfield company. She declined to comment further aside from the following statement:
“This is really an unfortunate matter and this is a personal matter for Mr. Huang and his family. This is unrelated to his employment. We’re monitoring the situation and hoping for a prompt resolution.”
