DENVER—Colorado elections administrators are meeting Thursday to map out how to run next month’s recall elections.
The legislative recalls in El Paso and Pueblo counties have been complicated by a recent court decision giving third-party candidates more time to qualify for ballots.
The decision means that unless the state Supreme Court intervenes, elections administrators won’t have more than 15 days to print and mail ballots. Secretary of State Scott Gessler has vowed the elections will still take place Sept. 10.
Democratic Sens. Angela Giron of Pueblo and John Morse of Colorado Springs face recall votes after gun-rights activists petitioned them to face voters.
Pueblo County Clerk Gilbert Ortiz has appealed the decision. He says voters won’t have enough time to return ballots.
