The National Weather Service has canceled a flash flood warning for the Waldo Canyon burn scar area.

The warning was listed a little after 6 p.m. The original warning was issued at 5:04 p.m. after radar indicated a strong thunderstorm capable of dropping one-half inch of rain or more on the scar area.

The warning includes U.S. 24 and Manitou Springs, which have been hard hit by flash floods in recent weeks, including a flood last Friday that killed one man and swept a house off its foundations while destroying and damaging several others.

At 5:20 p.m., Colorado Springs Police said on Twitter that U.S. 24 has been closed in both directions between Cave of the Winds and the town of Cascade.
