A program to train minorities and other disadvantaged people for work on the Regional Transportation District’s Eagle P3 project got a financial lift Tuesday.

RTD’s Workforce Initiative Now program received a three-year donation of $15,000 per year by the John Laing Charitable Trust and $50,000 from Eagle P3 project concessionaire Denver Transit Partners.

WIN efforts are now concentrated on workforce opportunities along the Interstate 70 corridor to Denver International Airport, which is part of the $2 billion Eagle P3 project.

WIN, a partnership of RTD, Community College of Denver, DTP and the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver, helps link job seekers with training and career opportunities.

“WIN helps job-seekers, companies and local communities through the creation of career opportunities in the transportation and construction industries,” RTD general manager Phil Washington said. “These substantial gifts will bolster WIN’s ability to put more people to work.”
