The average cost of a gallon of gasoline in Denver was 10 cents lower than the national average as the cost of fuel in the Mile High City continued to fall.
Gas fell 1.2 cents per gallon in the past week in Denver, averaging $3.47 Sunday compared to the national average of $3.57 a gallon, according to .
Gas prices in Denver were 2.1 cents a gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 2.4 cents a gallon lower than a month ago.
The national average has decreased 10.8 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 13.0 cents a gallon lower than a year ago.
“Americans are now shelling out $50 million less per day than they were last year when pump prices averaged 13-cents more per gallon,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.
“Most states are seeing their average below last year, and as summer slowly fades, gasoline prices may well in many communities.”
DeHaan said cooler weather typically brings relief as demand declines and discretionary travel ebbs. DeHaan added that pump prices may drift lower over the next few days.
GasBuddy operates and more than 250 similar websites that track gasoline at more than 140,000 gasoline stations in the United States and Canada.
