Saturday. Budding pop-culture fans are invited to geek out at the first-ever WOW! Comic Con at WOW! Children’s Museum. Programmed especially for kids and families, the con was created in partnership with Comic Book Classroom, a Colorado nonprofit that aims to promote literacy and arts education through comics and popular culture. Attendees can visit with local comic artists, create their own comics, design cool costumes and even put together an animated short. The musically inclined can also explore a musical instrument “petting zoo” provided by the Colorado Music Festival and Center for Musical Arts. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 24. WOW! Children’s Museum, 110 N.
