DENVER—Authorities have identified a tow truck driver who was killed in a crash that also injured a Colorado State Patrol trooper in southern Weld County.

Patrol Sgt. Mike Baker says 47-year-old Martin Braden of Aurora was clearing debris from an earlier crash on U.S. Highway 85 north of Denver on Saturday afternoon when he was struck and killed by a pickup truck. The truck also hit a patrol car, injuring Trooper Scott Rendfrey.

Investigators are trying to determine if the 61-year-old pickup driver was speeding or distracted at the time of the crash.

Rendfrey was treated at a nearby hospital and released late Saturday.
