BOULDER — The University of Colorado’s annual “Welcomefest” concert resumed after an hourlong delay because of lightning. Students who showed up to Farrand Field on Saturday evening to reserve a good spot had been disappointed when CU police began clearing the field shortly after 8 p.m.
Cmdr. Robert Axmacher said police evacuated the field for safety reasons. Students had been told to go to the University Memorial Center or the Center For Community to wait out the storm.
