DENVER—An investigation is underway after Thornton police shot and killed a man they say was armed with a knife and baseball bat.

Officers were called to 98th Avenue and Josephine Street at about 7:30 p.m. Friday on a report of a drunk man who was threatening people at a party.

Police spokesman Matt Barnes tells KMGH-TV ( ) that officers shot the man when he came at them with the baseball bat and knife. The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Officers say they used a stun gun on the man before he was fatally shot.
