Four men from South Carolina have been charged with illegal hunting in Colorado after they allegedly used poison-tipped arrows and hunted bears with bait, among other charges.

George Plummer, 51 and Joseph Nevling, 50, both of Timmonsville, Michael Courtney, 25 of Florence, and James Cole, 55, from Sumter were arrested at their hunt camp in the Brush Creek area east of Collbran Saturday evening, according to a news release from Colorado Parks and Wildlife department.

The men were also charged with hunting after hours and the illegal possession of big game wildlife, according to the release.

It is unclear who tipped authorities off about the group.

All four are scheduled to appear in Mesa County District Court on Wednesday.
