The dream of the ’90s can still live on as long as garage-punk girl bands are still a real thing.
Ex-drummer for and Vivian Girls, Ali Koehler, and ex drummer Patty Schemel are living proof of this fact,
from Best Coast in 2011, the two musicians, who allegedly met over twitter (according to MTV Hive), decided to join forces alongside guitarist Jenn Prince.
Upset has a similar feel and aesthetic as the member’s previous endeavors, as the single track “Oxfords and Wingtips” promises a familiar grungy girl-pop garage project as Vivan Girls and Hole (minus Cortney Love, of course).
Watch their live performance of Upsetap opening track “Back to School” below.
Upsetap debut titled “She’s Gone” is through New Jersey punk label, Don Giovanni, and is due out on Oct. 29.
Schemel recently starred in a feature documentary “Hit So Hard: The Life and Near Death story of Patty Schemel”, which reunited her with the other members (including Courtney Love, of course) of the mid-90s rock band Hole for the NYC premiere of the film.
The new super-girl rock band has not announced an upcoming tour.
