DENVER—Most of Interstate 25 remains closed in northern Colorado.

Southbound lanes of the highway reopened from U.S. Highway 34 to Colorado Highway 402 in the Loveland area Friday evening. But the rest of the highway is closed from the Wyoming border to Colorado Highway 7 north of Denver.

Three major rivers—the Big Thompson, St. Vrain, and the Poudre—normally flow under the highway in northern Colorado but flood waters have pushed them over the top of the roadway in some locations.

Transportation department spokesman Bob Wilson says the water could weaken the highway.
