DENVER—A visually impaired man who was walking with his service dog has been rescued after being swept away by rushing water down a Denver drainage ditch.

Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said witnesses saw the man and his dog fall into the water on Friday and called for help.

Jackson said firefighters pulled the man from the water four blocks away. The man appeared dazed and was taken to a hospital.
