The Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. on Tuesday issued an optimistic 2013 Midyear Economic Outlook report, saying the region has several advantages supporting a sustained stronger and earlier recovery than many other metropolitan areas.

Patty Silverstein, author of the forecast and chief economist for the Metro Denver EDC, said the area’s housing market has been more stable than other markets nationwide and that recent statistics point to strong home-sales growth and rising prices.

She noted that the region’s commercial-real-estate markets are also in a better position than markets elsewhere, partly because of sustained business interest and partly because of more restrained development before the downturn.

And the report noted that metro Denver’s healthy economy and attractive business environment continue to earn the region accolades. For example, Forbes recently ranked Denver as the sixth-best city in the U.S. for business and careers.
