COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs police have identified the body of a man pulled from a Colorado Springs creek as 47-year-old James Bettner.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office on Thursday ruled the man died by accidental drowning during Colorado’s massive flooding, which has left eight people dead.

Bettner’s body was found in the west fork of Sand Creek just before noon Monday.

Heavy rains caused widespread flash flooding in Colorado, extending all along the Front Range and into some cities, including Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Greeley, Aurora and Boulder.
