
1 Not drunk, just bad driving. A man was cited for careless driving Sept. 15 after he crashed into a fire hydrant at South Parfet Street and West Center Avenue. The man said he had two beers, but a DUI breath test registered only 0.029.
2 Fake name, foot chase don’t help suspect. A traffic stop on Kipling Street near West Colfax Avenue turned into a lot more Sept. 13 after the driver gave a fake name and then took off on foot. He ran across Kipling during rush hour but was caught as he tried to climb over a fence. He had four active warrants, two for felonies.
3 Don’t take his Broncos gear. Police responded to 7-Eleven, 95 Sheridan Blvd., on Sept. 12 for a fight in which one man swung a doll made of sheet metal at another man. The aggressor told police the victim tried to take his Broncos visor. He was cited.
4 Shoplifter caught, with knife. Police were called to Kohl’s, 3150 S. Wadsworth Blvd., on Sept. 12. A man picked a baseball cap, put it on and then paid for only a pair of socks. An employee stopped the man, but he took off running and threatened to stab the employee. He was arrested by police with a knife in his pocket.
5 Creative remodeling. Police responded to Mallory Manor, 9600 W. Colfax Ave., on Sept. 11 following a report of damage to one of the rooms. A hole had been cut into the living room wall and a fan was attached in front of the opening. On the other side of the hole was the bedroom and an air conditioner. A male resident admitted to cutting the hole and said it was to circulate the air during the recent hot weather. He was cited and arrested on unrelated warrants.
