ERIE — Trustee Paul Ogg made a post-midnight announcement Wednesday that he is resigning after five years, potentially leaving the board with a 3-3 rift until a new member is named.

Ogg, the longest-serving trustee on the seven-person board, said his Erie home is under contract, and he and his family plan to move to a rental property outside of town. He said he is selling his home because it wasn’t compatible with his young children.

“My wife and I have come to the conclusion that our house is not a family-friendly place for kids to grow,” Ogg said. “One of my kids took a tumble down the stairs, and the backyard is not conducive for kids playing.”

Because of a limited post-flood rental market, Ogg said his family was forced to leave Erie and will be renting a home in Arvada. Ogg had 2½ years left on his term.
