Getting your player ready...

A federal park ranger on Wednesday had the unfortunate duty of keeping everyone but actual veterans from visiting the World War II Memorial, which, like many other sites in Washington, D.C., closed during the shutdown.

In a Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, angrily told the woman she ought to be “ashamed” of what she was doing.

That’s when another park ranger, a 30-year veteran furloughed that day, came up and defended his colleague from Neugebauer.

“I saw a federal employee who was there following orders, doing her job,” he said later. “They’re not responsible for the closing of this. That gentleman is.”

Amen.
