When super-energy-efficient builder John Keith of Harvard Communities created his model home just east of Stapleton’s Westerly Creek Trail in 2007, television news stories covered its energy features, including solar.

Now, according to Stapleton experts Jason Cummings and Jesus Orozco of Kentwood Co., it’s the big main-floor master suite that’s its most outstanding feature.
They’ll show you that home today, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 3143 Galena St. in Stapleton, a pretty block that shows the features that are making Stapleton super-popular with buyers this year, including more contemporary architecture and a New Urban lifestyle close to parks.

“There seems to be even more of a sense of urgency here since the new Conservatory Green neighborhood opened,” says Cummings, who adds that he and Orozco have handled 42 Stapleton transactions in 2013 – 17 in Conservatory Green near Northfield shopping center. Nothing lasts long on the market; of five listings posted last month, this is the sole one left.

This house is a mile southeast of Conservatory Green, on the other side of I-70 and the Sand Creek Greenway and trail – but will show well pricewise against new homes there of this size and features, Cummings says. “It’s a great value; it’s custom quality without the price tag.”

In addition to the rare main-floor master (larger than main-level bedrooms generally show, with a bay window and contemporary bath) you’ll see two more bedrooms and two baths up beside a large loft; a main-floor study; and a low-maintenance backyard gathered around an outdoor living area with a gas fire ring that would feel good on a chilly evening.

Previous buyers, Orozco adds, paid around $800 per year to energize the 2,874-square-foot home, thanks to solar, as well as tankless water heating, a heat-recovery system and geothermal heat pump.

To visit, take Martin Luther King Boulevard east from Quebec Street past the park and rec center, to Fulton Street, turn north a block to 31st Avenue, then east a block to Galena Street.
