4) A. Tom Collins, Ark Life, the Yawpers — Hi-Dive, Oct. 11, $5
There’s no better way to celebrate the country’s biggest celebration of beer than with a party sponsored by New Belgium and featuring sets by A. Tom Collins, Ark Life and the Yawpers. It’s the perfect match for drinking beer after an entire day of drinking beer at the Great American Beer Festival. Anyone with a GABF ticket gets free admission to this after party at the Hi-Dive on Oct. 11.
3) Junip — Summit Music Hall, Oct. 14, $20-$22
There’s enough “indie-folk” dancing around music nomenclature today to drive any fan insane. Thatap why itap refreshing to hear a band like Junip thatap not pandering to buzzing genres and paving its own path through the musical landscape. Adding synthesizer and other subtle studio building blocks, Junip creates a meditative expansion on folk music. Equal parts tasteful and genuine, Junip has enough experimentation to appeal to music snobs and the simplicity for more casual listeners. The band will calm and challenge fans at Denver’s Summit Music Hall on Oct. 14. ($20-$22, thesummitmusic

2) Surfer Blood — Larimer Lounge, Oct. 16, $17.50
Surfer Blood comes dangerously close to wandering into alt-rock genericness. But using playful chord changes and singable choruses, Surfer Blood’s elements of Weezer and smatterings of other ’90s music cornerstones feels nostalgic. Any fan of music from that era will get a loving sense of familiarity in Surfer Blood’s guitar tones and song structure — the ’90s pop bridges bring back so many memories. The band stops at Denver’s Larimer Lounge on Oct. 16 in support of its solid sophomore album “Pythons,” which came out this year. ($17.50,

1) Fiona Apple — Boettcher Concert Hall, Oct. 11, $60.50-$82
There’s no one quite like Fiona Apple. Her music, her persona it’s all uniquely Fiona Apple, which makes her such a refreshing artist. On Oct. 11 she returns to Colorado in support of her newest release, the excellent “The Idler Wheel…” She’s had some trouble this tour, after being heckled by the crowd. So, let’s be nice to her, Denver, and just politely listen to her always honest music.
