The Denver Post has won three awards in the 2013 National Edward R. Murrow competition, sponsored by the Radio Television Digital News Association. The awards have honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism since 1971. Winners demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism, the association said.
Photojournalists Mahala Gaylord, Steve Nehf, Anne Herbst and Heather Rousseau won for continuing coverage of the 2012 Herbst and The Denver Post staff for continuing coverage of the theater shooting ; and Joe Amon, Gaylord, Meghan Lyden and Tim Rasmussen for their three-part series
Other local winners include 850 KOA for overall excellence; 9News for its newscast during the Aurora theater shooting and its series “From Hell and Back: The Lydia Tillman Story”; and Fox 21 in Colorado Springs for continuing coverage of the Waldo Canyon fire.
The awards were given Monday night in New York.
