The University of Denver hockey team lost 3-2 to Alaska Friday in its opening game at the Brice Alaska Goal Rush Tournament in Fairbanks, Alaska.

The No. 12 Pioneers had a 2-0 lead in the second with scores from Gabe Levin and Matt Marcinew before the Nanooks scored three unanswered goals to win the game.

Denver falls to 2-1-0 while Alaska improved to 2-1-0. The Pioneers will face Alaska Anchorage at 6:07 p.m. Saturday.
