Aurora police say they want to talk to a shooting victim to verify their original story.
Officers were called to an apartment on Elmira Street between 19th Avenue and Montview Blvd. around 3:30 a.m. on Monday.
Police said one person from that location was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. Officials tweeted that the victim is in surgery and expected to survive.
Investigators said they called the SWAT team out to determine if the suspect is still inside the apartment and if there was a second shooting victim inside. However, when they went in, they found the apartment empty.
