Coronado moves to No. 1 in Class 3A football poll

Coronado jumps up to No. 1 in the 3A football poll after Palisade’s 31-21 loss to Delta Friday.

The undefeated Cougars received nine of the 16 first-place votes to take the top spot, followed by No. 2 Discovery Canyon, No. 3 Palisade and No. 4 Holy Family. No. 7 Delta and No. 9 Roosevelt enter the poll, taking over for Evergreen and Conifer.

In Class 5A, Valor Christian stays at No. 1 after its 51-0 win over Palmer. Undefeated Fairview holds onto No. 2 after its narrow victory over No. 8 Pomona. Mountain Range makes its first appearance in the poll this year, replacing Chatfield after its loss to Mullen Friday.

Montrose remains at the top of 4A despite its loss to 5A rival Grand Junction. Pine Creek moves up one spot to No. 2, followed by No. 3 Monarch and No. 4 Falcon.

No. 1 Brush holds onto its top spot in Class 2A, followed by No. 2 Manitou Springs, which moved up one spot. Faith Christian made the biggest jump, moving up two spots to No. 4.

Buena Vista received 11 of 16 first-place votes for the No. 1 spot in Class 1A. The Demons are followed by No. 2 Limon and No. 3 Centauri. Paonia jumped three spots into No. 4 after beating No. 5 Hotchkiss. No. 8 Resurrection Christian enters the rankings as Wray drops out.

Hoehne and Dayspring Christian come in at No. 1 and No. 2 in the 8-man class. Walsh enters the poll at No. 10, while Akron falls out.

In 6-man, Liberty/Stratton continues its reign at No. 1. No. 3 Eads and No. 4 Hi-Plains swap spots.
