COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—One of two boys arrested after their mother’s boyfriend was stabbed to death in Colorado Springs last week is being released from juvenile detention to his mother.
A magistrate ruled Monday the 14-year-old boy should be released from Spring Creek Youth Services Center, where he has been held since Oct. 14. His 17-year-old brother was arrested after the slaying of the man in an apparent family dispute.
The older boy was charged as an adult Friday with first-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Spring Creek facility. The younger boy was charged as a juvenile Monday with second-degree assault and related charges.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette ( ), authorities haven’t said what they believe happened, and the arrest records are under seal.
