CANON CITY, Colo.—The reopening of the Royal Gorge Bridge has been pushed back after the Canon City Council refused to approve plans for reconstructing buildings destroyed by a June fire.
Bridge employees had been confident preliminary drawings of the layout and buildings for the park designed by Denver-based Beck Group would be approved and they could get started soon.
According to the Pueblo Chieftain ( ), the council decided to put off a vote until its Nov. 4 meeting.
Councilman Dennis Weid says the city wants to take a long look instead of just getting it open.
